Why Friendship Before Romance

I question the rule that romance shouldn’t happen without a deep friendship preceding it.

When there’s a shared, initial attraction, then a platonic friendship is hard to preserve for long anyway. So why insist on it? Why not just go with the flow?

The old “Let’s just be friends” command is usually just another way of saying, “No. I’m not interested in you that way.”
