A Comet And A Planet

Like a comet in space
Passing by a large mass
I was caught in your gravity
Gaining momentum
Moving ever more fast.

Closer and closer I streaked
Till the warmth of your body was felt.
I careened through your atmosphere & sparks flew.
My defenses began to melt.

The view of your terrain
I’d sought all my life.
Adrift alone in space,
No heavenly bodies in my sight.

Now at last I’m held
By your soft, comforting arms.
Drawn down to your gentle, sultry oceans,
Caught in your many charms.

But why can I not land?
You say I’m too fast
I tried to slow down
By firing my retro-emotional blasts.

But not enough brake.
I continue to fall around
Instead of into you.
The paradise land,
Your lovely face.
I’m going too fast to touch down.

Uh oh! we’re gaining distance
As this comet is hurled from the planet.

We’re moving apart more quickly
Than we came together.

I fell so quickly and so much in love,
That I sling-shot around you,
Missing the opportunity to land,
And have your love.

I love you [Emeebee].

I quickly depart with new inertia,
Your lands way far behind me.

But I can’t turn back,
Since I’m only a comet.
With no propulsion,
To return to your heavens.

But my passing by
So close to you
Has changed my direction and
Aimed me toward other planets.

But your space I’ll never pass again.
Good bye. Good bye Emeebee.

Your body shrinks to moon size,
As the passion that drew me to you
Now pulls me toward other dreams and stars.
I love you [Emeebee].

You’ve been like Jupiter
Altering the most of any planet
My trajectory.

Though right now
I resent you for shoving me away
I like the path upon which you’ve hurled me.
Thank you [Emeebee], thank you.
