Dear  [Vee],
[I just received your unexpected letter.]
Were we ever REALLY together? I don’t think so.
But, I feel the same as you say you feel. Rarely a day goes by that you do not enter my mind at least once.
However, just remember though, you did this. We all do things, whose consequences we regret. It’s how we learn, I guess.
I’ve learned much from you too and, for a time, very much enjoyed having you in my life. But that’s over now, and will probably never happen again. Do take care, and enjoy your marriage.
