Praying for First Love
Dear [BB],
Reminds me of the way I used to pray for my [first love]. I chased her for about seven years all told. Finally, we got together, and found out very quickly (after only six months) that we were very incompatible. We had different expectations from romantic relationships and didn’t compliment each other very well. What I wanted, she was uncomfortable giving, and what she wanted, I was uncomfortable giving. It eventually worked out the best way possible for all concerned. We broke up after all. 
My only regret was the seven years it took to learn that we could not be together. Hopefully, you and [that guy you like] will enjoy a different, more lasting outcome of your efforts. But if not, you’ll be none the worse for the wear, and will have learned a great deal about men, and relationships.
