Another New Acquaintance

On the writing, I just started the business a few months ago. I’m building up a collection of work before I give up my current job, and also setting up a state-of-the-art home office while I still have my current income. The plan is to go to full-time writing sometime next year, once I have enough for four to six books written. It seems like the bulk of the time will be spent “selling” my work, rather than writing it. And it may be slow-going for a couple of years, until I can build up a following. But I’m certainly eager to try.
On “Feeling my way around,” I’m used to that. Actually, I’m pretty functional and can do most of the things my fully sighted friends can do, except drive a car. I can read, distinguish colors from far away, do light construction, dig holes and trenches, program computers, wire houses, lay concrete, enjoy candle-lit dinners, and so on. I tried wearing contacts a few times over the years but they didn’t sit on my eyes correctly and would always drift off to the sides, producing “double vision,” halos, rainbows, and other interesting but distracting effects. So, I just wear my glasses these days.
