Here’s a New Cutie

Dear [Kandi],

Hi. It’s Tom Hesley from camp. Remember me? I’m the one you scolded for throwing the bowling ball too hard, and who dragged around that music computer all through camp to keep it from theft. I bet you never imagined I’d write.

I wanted to say that I enjoyed meeting you, though we didn’t talk much. It would have been fun getting acquainted. But right after camp began, I met [Emmy] and ended up hanging with her. She was wonderful, humorous, and outgoing – the kind of lady most guys love spending time with. But lately, we decided to be just friends due to many complicating circumstances.

I must admit, [Kandi], I am curious about you. Had you been available at camp and if I hadn’t met [Emmy], I would have talked to you more often.

About me: I trained as a software engineer, and programmed computers for fifteen years. But in 2001, my interest switched from the sciences to the humanities. So last March I left that job.

Nowadays, I’m a DJ here in the Altoona area, and am also writing a couple books to help shy people reduce their social anxieties, enabling them to confidently make first contact with people they’d really like to date.

So many folks settle for comfortable but unattractive companions, because they’re just too afraid to introduce themselves to the more desirable ones. As a result, their relationships are boring and unfulfilling, contributing significantly to today’s high divorce rates. In my writings, I attempt to treat this social problem philosophically, teaching about this fear and offering thinking ways to reduce it. My message is: The more afraid of a stranger you are, the more important that you find some way to actually meet them, and let them know what you want.

I’d love hearing your opinions on this issue because I want to ensure the volumes have plenty of female perspective, as they target everyone, ladies and gentlemen alike.

Well, that’s about it for now. I won’t bother you again unless I hear from you. But I do hope you’ll respond either in email or phone, because based on what I know about you so far, I would, without a doubt, enjoy learning more. My email address at my startup writing company is:
pulse@xxxxxxx.yyy
My phone numbers are:
814-742-xxxx or 215-850-xxxx (cell)

Take care, and best wishes for a successful school year. Hope you write soon.

Tom Hesley
