Another New Lady
Dear [Yev],
It’s Tom. [Emmy's] ex-boyfriend. Surprised to get a letter from me? Thought so.
I’m writing because I missed out on a great opportunity when in Buffalo last month, to get to know someone quite attractive. When I came there, [Emmy] seemed like “the lady for me.” She’s so energetic, polite, and innocent. We’d been dating for eight months and had lots of good times together.
But when I saw you for the first time, I began wondering if [Emmy] was really the kind of woman I wanted for a girlfriend. Perhaps it was your voice or long hair or fair skin. I don’t know. Whatever it was, it made me unsure of whether to continue things in such a serious fashion with [Emmy]. Subsequently, we broke up. She’s a great person but something was missing. The romance had gone.
Anyway, I’m telling you this because I’d like to get to know you. Do you feel the same about me? If so, we might have some wonderful times together.
Now I’m not in a hurry to get serious with anyone, and would be content to let things go at their own pace. But I did want to get this to you before you left the Statler Center because I don’t know how I’d get hold of you once you leave there in April.
[Emmy] knows that I sent you this letter. She was not too happy, but seems to understand my reasons.
If you’re interested, let me know. If not, have a great life and I hope you can find a nice job after your hospitality training is finished.

Take care, and would love to hear from you.
PS. I sent a hard copy of this to you at the school before I had your email address.
