Full Time Love Quest

Hi.

I wanted to get you my email address, so you can send me your Christmas tree pic. [...]

The book(s) I’m writing are targeted to anyone who has waited a long time to find their dream mates, and deal with issues of being truthful to others (but not too transparent), but at the same time being maximally dedicated to the truth (as best we can perceive it) in our own minds.

The only problem is: I wanted to write it as a sort of an advice book, but I haven’t found my dream mate yet, so I fear that my credibility will be lacking until I do.  Nonetheless, I have lots of little articles, poems, pleas to the universe, letters to my as-of-yet-unknown dream girl, and so on, which I hope to publish once I have enough of them.

I’m on sebadical from software engineering at present. I worked for fifteen years, and lived without my true love. Life was good. The money was great. But it felt empty, no matter what I achieved on the job. In the 90s, I came to understand that I probably would never completely quiet my aching heart without finding a true sweetie. Since finding her is more important to me than anything else, money included, I figured it was time, in 2003, to leave my job, so I could focus all my energies on learning what I had not learned to that point, so I could bring her near me.

While I believe that as humans we can be reasonably happy and fulfilled without our “other half”, I also feel that, we (at least myself anyhow), cannot realize our highest happiness potential without that special someone to walk with us.

Thus, I’ve been on this quest full-time since the spring of 2003, and the hope is that one day, when I find her, she and I together will write about this journey to encourage others still alone, to “hang in there” and keep looking.

My favorite author is Dr. Albert Ellis, who discusses a form of cognitive therapy known as Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT). I also love Star Trek and other shows that send powerful philosophical messages. On the lighter side, I also enjoy Sanford & Son, Raymond, and a bit of Seinfeld.

Well, I’ve got to run for now. Thanks for writing back, and I hope to hear more from you shortly.

Take care,
Tom Hesley
