A New Tall Lady

Hi again TSM.

I’m so glad you wrote back, and that you’re flexible on the heights of those you date.

What’s your first name, TSM?

So, you just moved to LA? Wonderful. A guy I went to school with lives in Pasadena and he’s been after me to visit him for several years. Perhaps I’ll visit sooner than he expected. :-)

On being agnostic: Well, you know I get just as frustrated with atheists as with the ultra-right, fundamentalist bible thumpers. I don’t know whether God is out there or not. He could be. But then again, maybe not. I don’t think humans can possess such absolute knowledge one way or the other, and those who claim to have it are, to me, deluded.

Now don’t get me wrong. The Bible is one of my favorite books, and I’ve spent lots of time reading it. It’s a great moral code to follow, particularly as laid out in the Book of Proverbs. Religion seems to be an effective way to teach good values to the masses. Without it, I fear that the human race would have self-destructed long ago. On the other hand, if it weren’t for religion and the self righteous attitudes that it seems to spawn, human history might have been far less bloody. It’s just unfortunate however, that religion’s basic premise (that some god exists and has control over everything) can’t be a more humanistic one. I favor the Buddhist belief system, which suggests that the “higher power” humans seek is within themselves. Well, perhaps we can philosophize about that more sometime…

CPU work at Kinko’s? Do you work with computers?

So, if I get an address in your zip code, will you date me then? :-)

Well, take care. Time to get back to work. You really brightened my day with your letter. I predict that I’ll get more than usual accomplished this afternoon. *smile*

Take care, and write back soon.
