Another Rejection

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

[This one said no because she just met someone else and wants to see how that will work out. So I responded as follows:]

Well, thanks for considering me. Best wishes in your new relationship. If things don’t work out there, and you’d care to get to know me, let me know. I’d so much enjoy the opportunity to learn more about you.

Take care,

[Another one that doesn't like long distances. I responded as follows:]

Hi.

Well, I would consider relocating for the right girl. But I understand your concern about the distance.

If you change your mind, let me know. I’d be most interested in getting to know you.

Take care,

Another Rejection

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

[This woman rejected me because I was nine years younger than she. By this time in the quest, I was getting quite frustrated with so many women rejecting based on age. So I responded as follows:]

I never understood the premium people place on age. Well, perhaps when I was a teenager I felt that a 16 year-old hanging out with a 7 year-old (9 years difference) was too much. But by the time people get to middle age, to me the difference just doesn’t seem relevant.

What makes you so sure that it was the age difference that made your relationship with that younger man fail? His personality traits that you found incompatible probably had nothing to do with age per se, and I can guarantee that not all 44 year-old guys behave like 44 year-olds.

Some people believe that a person’s age is an accurate measure of maturity or experience. But I’ve found this to be so untrue. I’ve dated ‘em 21 and 61 and found that as long as “the feeling” was there, that it didn’t matter about the age. Some 61 year-olds are less mature than some 21 year-olds.

But alas, you are the boss, and I respect your opinion. Too bad too because we might have had something very nice. Overgeneralization. So necessary in human learning. But it can be deadly when choosing a mate.

Take care, and good luck.

Dear Kandi

Wednesday, April 27th, 2005

Dear [Kandi],

Sounds good. All is well here. Outside projects are coming along. Looks like our dishwasher needs replacing (it’s 15 years old, and began acting up yesterday). But hopefully, I can make it limp along for a few more months anyhow.

$20 per hour for a massage is a wonderful price, as long as the masseur doesn’t break your back! Careful of those trainees. :)

[This woman rejected me due to our age difference. Also, she took offense that I winked at her when I'm looking for a "dream girl" She said that she was not a girl. So I replied as follows:]

Come on. Don’t be so literal. By the term “dream girl” I’m simply referring to ANY woman with whom I can fall in love, her age notwithstanding.

Too bad you feel that you’re too old for me. Interesting, isn’t it, that so many women vainly struggle to make themselves look younger, believing, apparently, that the more youthful they appear, the more likely they’ll attract their “dream guy.” Yet, you reject a younger man, who is only nine years younger than yourself. Wow.

Sad. To me, age is just a number and by no means predicts compatibility between lovers. Experience bears this out. But, you don’t see that. Oh well. I tried.

I’ve added you to my “removed profiles” list, and so shouldn’t bother you again.

Take care,

Omit the Income

Monday, April 18th, 2005

Dear sister Diane,

I’ll try omitting the income [per your suggestion in my profile] and see if I get better results. However, when I was making between $75,000 and $100,000, put that there too. And even then, I still didn’t get many responses. :)

Good morning [Kandi].

Hey, when are you going to start working at camp? Did they give you a start date yet?

I’ll be attending the late July session, with [Jack], [Ron], Carl [...], [Altar], et al.
