About My Family
Hi Svetlana.
I have four sisters and no brothers, and keep in touch frequently. I am the oldest, while [the next one down is a sister], a 6th grade school teacher, and [the next younger is] a software tester, are twins and are 11 months younger than I. [The next younger sister], a hospital administrator, is [...] 13 months younger than the twins, and finally, there’s [my youngest sister], a dental hygienist, who is 14 months younger than [the hospital administrator]. Mom is 63 years old and she baby-sits for the sisters. We all get along well.
Dad passed away in 1997 at 61 years old from cancer. I live with Mom currently. After Dad passed, I came here to help Mom with the house – it was getting out of repair. After the work was done, I decided to stay here a while – at least, until I meet my special sweetie. Then, I’ll move to be with her.
Our Cape Cod house has five rooms on the first floor and two on the second. I live on the second floor and Mom lives on the first. We have two acres of ground, and I had a pavilion built out back, to sit in on hot summer days, looking at the mountains all around us.
This is a small town. Nice and quiet. The air is clean, and lots of trees spread their wide limbs around the yard, a truly wonderful sight.
I hope to be a writer eventually. Currently, I write in the mornings, read in the afternoons with a nap at around 3:00 PM, and then in the evenings, I work outside cutting grass, trimming trees, picking up litter in the yard, and so on.
I want someone too, and feel the same persistent emptiness as you. I’ve ached for her for years. It sure would be a blessing to have a companion to dine with, take walks with, and read to. Do you like reading aloud? I love listening to my woman read to me.
Let me tell you early, that I do not have full sight. I see well enough to get around, but cannot drive a car. Would this bother you? How would you feel about driving for me? Also, I am not rich. I hope one day that my writing will make me rich again. But I’m not counting on that. However, I have enough to maintain a home and keep food on the table. Would you mind a modest life style like that?
Would it be possible for the both of us to see the moon at the same time? I think Russia has day when America is at night. I love watching the stars. Also, there are lots of lightning bugs that flicker at night in the yard like thousands of little yellow diamonds. Do you have these where you are?
Roller skating and ice skating are so fun. Cross-country skiing is nice also.
Well, I’m going to sign off for now. Take care of yourself, and I look forward to hearing from you again.
Bye bye,
Tom Hesley
PS: Do you have a telephone? It’d be nice to hear your voice.
