Respectful, Sighted Women
Dear [Mentat],
[...] Your heart does not beat for heavy women, and it’s good to read that you suspect that your affections for such a woman would probably fade after the novelty of dating a sighted woman fades. I say this because your passions for ladies seem to mirror mine in many ways, from the sorts of women who elicit them to how they manifest themselves. Yes, I dated the heavy woman Jane for six months in 1990 and 1991, and I’d recommend such an experience to any blind man who wants proof that at least some people in the sighted world can be supremely loving and respectful to the handicapped. But in the end, the constant and implicit assurance of equality just wasn’t enough to justify staying with someone for whom I felt no physical attraction. As you indicate, you would probably find the same thing.
