Less Weight Softer Feet

Dear [Melinda],

Nothing more to add to this thread really, except the following:

  • I used to think that graying hair and weight gain were inevitable and natural artifacts of the aging process.  But nowadays, I think them at least manageable.  I know people who are 63 years old who look 30.  They never smoked, had low-stress jobs, and chose their foods very carefully.  Choice has a large bearing on how well we age to be sure.
  • You’re approaching mid life yourself, and the choices you make today, specifically the stress to which you subject yourself will have grave impacts on the quality of your life a couple decades from now.  So, choose wisely.
  • Watch your weight, lest you prematurely wear out your ankles, knees, and hips.  True, they can be replaced these days, but only with lots of pain and time spent in rehab.  Such devices would rarely be needed if no one was overweight.
  • I think I would have liked you in size 2.  Thin women are the bomb (Forgive the childish cliché.).
  • If you get thin, your feet will probably get soft again since they’ll not be bearing as much weight and thus, there’d be less need for calluses.
  • Be careful about liposuction.  The jury is still out on how safe this is, not to mention its long-term effects.  Avoid these sorts of invasive procedures unless there’s no other way to accomplish your goals.

Later,

Tom
